Stretch Mark Removal
We use the best stretch mark removal laser technology available on the market. It’s used to remove stretch marks both new and old as well as different colors. Our practice provides an individualized approach to permanent stretch mark laser removal and utilizes different lasers such as Fractional Laser, KTP laser, and pulsed dye laser as needed depending on the type of stretch mark treated.
What Are Stretch Marks?
Stretch marks – called striae distensae are discolored scars that could form on the stretched skin over different parts of the body. They are formed in the dermis – the middle layer of the skin responsible for maintaining elasticity and shape; and might appear as wavy red stretch marks, silver or white in color.
According to PubMed, Striae distensae is a very common, asymptomatic, skin condition. It is typically seen among females between 5 to 50 years old. It generally causes cosmetic morbidity and emotional trauma, especially in women and in professions where physical appearances play a major role. Treatment of striae rubrae by lasers improves the appearance and has a long-lasting effect.
What Causes Stretch Marks?
The most common stretch marks causes are:
- Rapid stretching of the skin such as during pregnancy
- Rapid weight loss or gain due to hormonal fluctuations

Certain medications such as steroids could also cause skin marks by breaking down connective tissues in the dermis and disrupting collagen production. The scars that develop are usually permanent in nature and do not disappear on their own without permanent stretch mark removal treatment.
The most common sites for the striae treatment are:
- Abdominal area
- Thighs
- Arms
- Hips
- Buttocks
- Breast
- Lower back
There are multiple permanent stretch marks removal treatment options available to decrease the appearance of skin marks.
What Is Laser Stretch Marks Removal Treatment?
Laser treatment is considered a safe and effective treatment option to remove stretch marks on thighs or any body part including the breasts. Our practice provides an individualized approach to permanent stretch mark removal and utilizes different lasers such as:
- Fractional Laser
- KTP laser
- Pulsed dye laser
For patients with the red and purple stretch marks, we might provide treatment with pulsed dye or KTP. For silvery and white stretch marks, the Fraxel laser would be a sound option for the best laser stretch mark removal.
KTP and pulsed dye lasers target damaged blood vessels surrounding the treatment area and decrease redness. Fraxel laser treatment uses a focused beam of light from the laser equipment to penetrate the skin and cause coagulation of underlying tissue.
It stimulates biological changes in the tissues and helps to form new collagen and elastin fibers. After several laser treatments, the skin tightens and heals itself revealing smoother and healthier skin.
What Do the Treatments Feel Like?
Laser treatments are usually painless and are considered the best way to get rid of stretch marks. You might feel a warm sensation and a mild sting as snapping of the rubber band. If you are concerned with the discomfort during laser treatments, please let us know we may administer topical or local anesthesia to alleviate your pain and discomfort.
Is Treatment Safe?
There are certain contraindications for this laser treatment that you should be aware of, you need to make sure you notify your technician if you have them.
Laser treatment for stretch marks is contraindicated if you are taking medications that cause photosensitivity, such as certain antibiotics, have a medical condition causing you to be more photosensitive, viral or bacterial infections, or are pregnant. Stretch mark scar treatment will not be performed in our clinic if you have the following medical conditions:

What Happens After Treatment?

There is no downtime after the treatment to remove striae and you may return to your normal activities right away. We recommend the use of sunscreen and no sun tanning to the treatment area for 3-4 weeks after the treatment.
Laser stretch mark removal is an ongoing process and might require 4–6 sessions to be successful and permanent, so be patient. Frequently Asked Questions
Are There Any Home Remedies for Stretch Marks?
For many men and women, striae are a natural part of development. They may appear during puberty, pregnancy, or sudden gain of muscle or weight. Scars are not likely to disappear without medical assistance. But you can make them less visible if you:
- Regularly use stretch mark cream on the affected area
- Apply stretch mark lotion to protect and moisturize the skin
- Cover the scars with a non-allergic temporary or permanent tattoos
Are Stretch Marks Tattoos Safe?
Many people use tattoos to cover stretch marks. These marks come under the category of scar tissue. They are more difficult to deal with than regular undamaged skin. However, when performed by an experienced specialist, you will be able to mask and cover your striae. Damaged skin is more sensitive making tattooing on scars and marks an uncomfortable experience. It is highly advised to wait until scars heal completely before visiting the tattoo master.
How to Prevent Pregnancy Stretch Marks?
Developing stretch marks after pregnancy is a common issue for many women. They usually develop in the sixth or seventh month of pregnancy. These scars around the stomachs, breasts, or hips appear due to the strain caused by rapid weight gain. Collagen and elastin hold the skin taut, stretch and snap under pressure. Following your baby’s birth, your striae probably won’t disappear. They should turn to white from a pink or purple color and become less obvious.
You can prevent scar appearance by following these tips:
- Monitor your weight
- Drink a lot of water
- Practice a nutritious diet
- Intake of vitamin C and D
- Eat zinc-rich foods
Can You Get Rid of Stretch Marks on Back?
Scars on your back, as with any skin site, appear due to excessive stress on the skin. It can be caused by rapid weight gain, growth spurt in teenagers, or intense workouts.
You can lessen scars’ visibility by making use of the following methods:
- Microdermabrasion. It tightens the collagen and elastin fibers in your dermal layers.
- Exfoliate. It washes off dead skin cells from the treated area.
- Laser therapy. Pain-free and effective option for scar treatment.
- Microneedling. Needles increase collagen production and skin regeneration.
- Cosmetic surgery. This option removes scars permanently.
- Topical treatments. Skincare products are a budget-friendly way of treatment.
